Energy Savings of 40% Identified for Whitehall Garden Centre

SMARTech energy are delighted to have been working in partnership with Whitehall Garden Centre in Lacock, Wiltshire to develop and implement an energy saving plan to target a 40% reduction in energy consumption.

Our work with Whitehall Garden Centre started with an Energy Management Survey. SMARTech energy installed Real-Time Energy Monitoring equipment into Whitehall Garden Centre to generate minute by minute, 24/7 analytics on energy consumption across the site. We also carried out an in-depth site survey to collate data. This enabled us to identify WHERE, WHEN and HOW energy was being consumed and, most importantly, wasted.

40% reduction in energy

Our team of specialist Energy Consultants analysed the data and presented a report which identified areas of wastage and recommendations on actions to prevent and reduce energy wastage. This report included an overview of potential financial and carbon savings, costs of solutions and payback times. Working with the team at Whitehall Garden Centre, a plan was developed to target a 40% reduction in energy consumption through a range of measures including:

  • Energy monitoring and base load reduction
  • LED lighting
  • Voltage Optimisation
  • SMART Refrigeration (chilled unit energy savers)
  • Evaporative cooling

Solutions, such as LED lighting and evaporative cooling also had the added benefit of improving the environment of the centre for both customers and staff. Our work with Whitehall Garden Centres continues. Ongoing monitoring will both quantify the actual savings and help to identify future energy saving opportunities.

Thanks to Peter Self, Managing Director of Whitehall Garden Centres, for helping to pull together the video – making it was fun.
