Small and medium-sized businesses, schools, charities and voluntary organisations are now able to claim grants for Energy Saving projects of up to 30 percent of the project cost for the energy saving project, up to a maximum of £10,000. The funding is available through the Carbon Trust’s Green Business Fund for projects installed by SMARTech energy.
The fund has been available since April this year and is offered on a first come, first served basis. This could mean you could receive up to £10,000 grant towards the cost of your energy saving project to help you meet the challenge of becoming a more sustainable business whilst reducing your energy consumption and saving money on an on-going basis. Eligible technology includes LED lighting, low carbon boilers, heating, cooling, air-conditioning, voltage optimisation, refrigeration and gas savings solutions. 30% grants for Energy Saving projects are available to SMEs who meet the following criteria
The grant application process is straightforward and your Carbon Trust Accredited Supplier will assist you and provide you with information you need to complete the application. Key eligibility criteria include:
- Fewer than 250 employees
- Turnover of less than £25m
- Minimum total size of project £5,000 to be delivered by a Carbon Trust Accredited Supplier
SMARTech energy become a Carbon Trust Accredited Supplier
The grants are only available for projects that are delivered by a Carbon Trust Accredited Supplier. SMARTech energy has recently been approved to join the register of Accredited Suppliers. In order to ensure the quality of the suppliers on the register, an in depth accreditation processes is followed which involved a review by the Carbon Trust into projects previously delivered by SMARTech energy alongside testimonials from previous customers. Improving your bottom line
The 30% capital grant is available up to a limit of £10,000. For projects up to £33,333, you will benefit from the full 30% contribution. For projects totalling more, then the £10,000 maximum will be receivable. Grant monies are typically received within 10 working days of the project being completed. The Carbon Trust are very clear, however, that monies will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If you are a business who pays corporation tax and you have not used your Annual Investment Allowance (AIA) in the year, then taking advantage of your AIA alongside the 30% grant could result in the net cost to you being as low as 50% of the project price. And remember, energy efficiency projects can deliver significant ongoing energy savings – reducing energy consumption by up to 80% for some technologies.
