SMARTech energy have recently completed the installation of an evaporative cooling system for a large server room for a company based in Somerset. The works included the design, installation and commissioning of the evaporative cooler system which we linked up to the current air conditioning system to act as a secondary system to improve the backup capabilities or in case of the activation of the gas suppression system.
SMARTech energy’s cooling for server rooms system removes the risk of legionella disease by incorporating specialist filtration pads to capture water droplets and prevent them from entering the airstream going into the server room. This system design enabled the PLC to operate the evaporative cooling system to have a maximum running load of 4.8 kW compared to the original air conditioning system which had a maximum loading of 48 kW making very impressive reductions in power consumption and energy.
When compared to traditional air conditioning, the installation of the evaporative cooler resulted in 90% energy savings and carbon emission reduction.
