This national retail chain was able to reduce their energy consumption by 30% in their worst performing shops across their network of over 300 national stores. This has been achieved by following the first five stages our unique 9 step methodology.
We monitored shops and conducted site surveys to build up a model to help our client understand HOW, WHERE and WHEN energy was used (and wasted) in the shops that had the highest energy consumption vs retail store space.
SMARTech energy reported its findings and produced the Energy Management Surveys for each location. We were able to help our client understand the site’s energy use by interrogating base loadings (energy used when operations are shut) and highlighted the areas of the shops where the greatest energy savings could be made.
We developed a plan that contained a series of recommendations and worked on quick wins for the business and educational pieces for staff to help reduce energy consumption.
In line with our methodology, we were able to quantify our recommendations. By monitoring energy over a further six month period after upgrades had been installed SMARTech energy was able to prove that they had been achieved 30% savings.
Given the success of our strategy to reduce energy consumption, SMARTech energy are in talks with the company about permanently renting out the monitoring equipment so that peaks in energy demand can be identified.
