University Technical College (UTC) Swindon reduces energy consumption by 33%

UTC Swindon is a renowned STEM college located in Swindon. The college building mainly comprises of staff offices and lecture rooms that are spread over two floors. The building also has engineering workshops that are used for practicing science, technology and engineering. In addition, the college is equipped with heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system and renewable energy in the form of solar photovoltaic (PV).

A long-term energy reduction strategy featuring energy monitoring, LED lighting, motor optimisation and base load reduction will deliver energy savings of 33% and more than 230 tonnes in carbon emissions for UTC Swindon; helping the site to save energy, save money and save carbon.

UPGRADING TO LOW CARBON TECHNOLOGIES

SMARTech energy partnered with UTC Swindon to create a bespoke energy reduction strategy as part of their 10 year plan to reduce costs, cut carbon emissions and save on energy consumption through the EEaaS Programme.

The managed partnership between SMARTech energy and the University Technical College Swindon through the Energy Efficiency as a Service programme, has helped the site to reduce it’s energy consumption by 33% and more than 237 tonnes in carbon emissions (over the length of the contract).
