UTC Reading reduce their energy consumption by 30%

Measured and verified results for our latest Energy Efficiency as a Service (EEaaS) programme at the University Technical College (UTC) Reading show we’ve helped the college to reduce their energy consumption by a staggering 30%!

This equates to predicted savings of more than £150,000 in energy costs over the terms of the contract and savings of more than 220 tonnes in carbon emissions.

EEaaS:  Energy management and reduction solutions to reduce energy costs, consumption and carbon

With flexible investment options, SMARTech energy’s EEaaS model provides energy management and reduction solutions for the education sector in order to reduce energy costs, consumption and carbon.

UTC Reading took the zero CapEx approach to an energy efficiency programme. They didn’t have the capital to invest or experience and resource to implement an energy reduction plan and wanted to upgrade their site with innovative building technologies.

SMARTech energy therefore provided 100% of the investment to develop a strategy to design, integrate, install and deliver a comprehensive portfolio of energy efficient technology upgrades -which have been designed to achieve the most efficient energy savings.

Our long-term energy reduction strategy with the UTC includes (but not limited to) LED lighting upgrades, voltage optimisation on the site’s main incoming energy supply and motor optimisation of variable speed drives (VSDs).

Activate Learning Education Trust

UTC Reading is a part of more than 40 education sites within the Activate Learning Education Trust group.

Our energy management partnership with UTC Reading follows the successful roll out of the EEaaS model at UTC Swindon and we are delighted to positively and proactively help the Trust to make change to improve sustainability across the group.
