SMARTech energy secures £150k lighting contract

Corsham-based SMARTech energy has secured a £150,000 LED lighting retrofit for Herman Miller‘s Melksham premises.  Replacing fluorescent tubing with state-of-the-art intelligent LED lighting, motion sensors and daylight harvesting.

Energy Savings and Co2 Reduction

SMARTech energy’s Managing Director, Stuart Pearce, anticipates energy savings of more than 73% with C02 reduction of 91 tonnes per year. The contract follows SMARTech energy’s successful installation of 9 evaporative cooling units at the site’s 170,000sq ft site in 2018.

Based in Melksham’s Bowerhill, leading global manufacturer of office furniture, Herman Miller is an environmentally conscious company – keen to identify options to reduce carbon emissions, save on energy costs and improve the working environment for its staff. Outdated fluorescent lighting is a key contributor to energy waste; with their inefficiency driving up energy use and C02 emissions.

Energy audits, custom design, fixture manufacturing and installation

Herman Miller selected SMARTech energy for the lighting installation based on their ability to design, develop and install energy efficient LED lighting solutions on a turnkey basis. SMARTech energy’s services include initial energy audits, custom design, fixture manufacturing, commissioning and full project management through to installation.

Utilising an organisation’s power supply has significant implications on the practical, financial and environmental aspects of a business.  Therefore, prior to the LED design and installation, SMARTech energy installed energy monitoring systems to identify the amount of power used on the site.

Results showed that the total power used for factory lighting was 90kw.  The installation of LED lighting reduced the power consumption onsite to 30kw; equating to more than 91 tonnes of CO2 per year.  Using energy efficient technologies such as LED not only reduces energy costs, but frees up power consumption which can be used in other areas.

Customer Satisfaction

MD Stuart Pearce commented “This project is an endorsement of our expertise, product quality and customer commitment and reaffirms Herman Miller’s customer satisfaction with our solutions and service to date.  We look forward to the successful completion of the lighting installations and are optimistic to secure additional service works with Herman Miller”.

Strong growth, fuelled by a demand for energy efficient technologies, has served as SMARTech energy’s driver for success.  In response to customers’ evolving business expectations the company’s provision of service offerings has recently expanded to include SMARTech energy Consultancy, SMARTech Electrical Services, SMARTech Heating and Cooling solutions and SMARTech Power Management.

Stuart adds “Our unique commercial turnkey solution and successful execution, together customer satisfaction of projects is a core commitment of our company and is crucial in securing both new and repeat business”.
