Leading chlidcare provider, Snapdragons Nursery has taken a huge step to reduce their energy costs with the installation of a major solar energy project at one of their nine sites in the South West.

Our partnership with Wiltshire construction firm Beard, to design, develop and deliver energy efficiency solutions as part of their ongoing business sustainability strategy, aims to reduce their electrical and gas energy consumption in order to save energy, save costs and save carbon over the next five years.

The oxford site (shown below) comprised 28 x 455W solar panels. We estimate that more than 11,250 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity will be produced each year; offering estimated annual savings of over £1,424 per year and a return on investment within 8.5 years. Annual carbon savings are 2.2 Tonnes CO2.
Solar PV installation at Wiltshire Dairy Farm
With the increase in the cost of electrical power from the grid, we’re seeing a huge demand for Solar PV across all sectors.
The energy derived from the Solar PV system at this farm, will be used to power machinery across the site and reduce their dependency on the national grid; enabling the farm to save energy, save money and save carbon.

Following an initial site survey, our energy consultancy team designed a 49.66kWp system split across two aspects in order to increase the energy usage on site.
Energy Savings and ROI
To construct this system, more than 129 panels were fitted and commissioned by our team – making up a combined 49.66kW solar array. Energy generated from this installation will total more than 43,000kWh of electricity per year.
Annual savings are approximately £6,535 with estimated system payback of 7 years.
From District Network Operator (DNO) approval to commissioning, we are managing installs within 2 short weeks.
